Inspiration Job #17

My poster would be on the Depression and how migrant workers went across the US just to find jobs in the 1930s. It was an issue that effected thousands of people then and their families too.

Picture ideas would be a railroad and a dirty man who looks very tired.

What I found in an article was: “The economic depression caused a drastic decrease in the cost of certain goods and services. Among which are agricultural crops. In an effort to maintain their livelihood, many farmers turned to producing more crops. This added production bled the earth of vital minerals and nourishment. A sea of green leaves and crops withered into an ocean of dirt and sand. Lack of production meant a lack in income; a lack in income meant no longer being able to pay loans and taxes. Thus, the land no longer belonged to the farmers. Despite everything, hope remained in the small fliers promising work in California.”

Job #6 Inspiration

I chose these cougars because the first one was cute and the second looked fierce and that’s what we can make our school seem like. We are determined students on a mission to succeed. The first poster design caught my eye because what they did to the words. I thought the second one was cool because it words are written across the picture. The third was appealing because a picture could go in the background and we could make it look really nice.

Artist Statement

Graphic designing is such a great way to spend your time and let out your artistic thoughts in such a creative way. I have learned so much in this class this year. Each assignment took a while to do but were really fun to create and to look at after. I realized that I like surrealism the best because you can make a bunch of different, unusual pieces of work. The process of doing it is a little difficult and creating stuff off the top of your head takes a lot of time to figure out, but in the end, it is so worth it.

Throughout the year, I have learned how do manipulate pictures in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. These three were very hard to figure out in the beginning and it took a lot of getting used to. One of my biggest weaknesses were remembering how to do certain things on the programs. Another weakness I had was working too fast to get everything done instead of taking my time to improve on each detail in my art. The third biggest problem I had was matching up colors and fonts together with my art. A strength I had was that I mostly got done with every assignment we had on time. I think my art definitely progressed as the year went by. We learned a lot of different things you can do as the year went by, letting me use different effects on the pictures. Tracing images was not the best thing I did, but I really enjoyed putting imaged together and making them fit together.

Overall, I think I learned a lot more than I thought I would. Learning all these techniques helped me realize what different designers do throughout the world and how I could even do it too. I have developed in my artistic designing but also have much to learn to improve further more. I would definitely love to continue doing graphics because I love doing it and trying new things.

This year in graphic design, I have learned so much about editing pictures, manipulating them, and all about different fonts. I didn’t realize how important all of this is and how fun it can be too. In these pictures, I used Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design to make these pieces of artwork. My favorite thing to do was putting stuff together that was completely different. It’s very time consuming but very beneficial at the end because you’re very proud of what you have put together. My favorite piece of work that I have done was the guitar picture made of little pictures of guitars and guitar picks. It was a little tricky but overall pretty easy to do and really cool to look at after it was done. I’m so glad that i joined this class because I loved learning about the history of graphic design and how many things were made.

Orn’ry Usage Summery

This article talks about the misusage of words in phrases in art. Many people make many errors in grammar. Modern day texting and lack of education makes this more frequent in art. Artist must revise their work several times before publishing it or sharing it with people because it could effect them a lot. If there was an error, it would not be good to be told by people that a mistake like that was made. If not taken in consideration and fixed, then this issue will happen more often and it will show he viewers that you’re not as professional as you may be.

Assignment 8

Part 1

Part 2

These two designs are logos for ‘Key Music Store’. My first design has two fonts and the ‘c’ is used as a music note. In the second, the name is written on a record. These both had a theme I was given, which was a music store.
